Why combine solar and battery storage?
Installing solar panels and battery storage together gives you a complete home energy system. Solar generates electricity during Moray's long summer days; the battery stores surplus generation so you can use it in the evening, overnight and on lower-generation winter days. A combined system is designed as one integrated setup, with the inverter, battery and panels specified to work together efficiently.
The benefit of installing both at once
Installing solar and battery together avoids the cost and complexity of retrofitting a battery later. A single hybrid inverter can manage both generation and storage, and the system is commissioned as one. For Moray homeowners thinking about both, a combined install is usually the most cost-effective route.
How a combined system works through the year
In summer, your solar array may generate well in excess of what you use during the day — the battery stores this for evening use. In winter, generation is lower but the battery can still charge from the grid on a cheaper off-peak tariff and discharge during peak hours. Across the year, a well-designed combined system maximises how much of your electricity comes from your own generation.
Adding an EV charger
A combined solar and battery system pairs naturally with a home EV charger — you can charge your electric car from your own stored solar electricity. See our EV chargers page for more.
Designed for Moray
We design systems around your actual roof, orientation and usage. At around 57.6°N Moray is far north, so summer days are very long and winter days short. Coastal sites along the Moray Firth need wind- and salt-rated fixings. Solar on most homes is permitted development in Scotland; listed buildings and conservation areas need consent — check with Moray Council.
